I’ve been developing interfaces and designing user experiences for new media since 2000. From splash pages to enterprise-scale web applications, to touchscreen ATMs and kiosks, all for consumer-facing products.

My experience has come in a wide range of environments ranging from independent contracting to staff designer for the 9th largest company in America. In each circumstance, I have been able to draw on my natural talents as an effective team leader and manager, while also learning something new about the various mediums and environments.

Today, I lead talented multi-disciplinary teams with members in locations across the US and around the world, successfully communicating with design specifications, working together with business and technology teams, executives and vendors.

I emphasize clear and responsive communication, intelligent processes and constant vigilance in enforcing brand standards and mitigation of scope creep.


Professional Experience

Bank of America User Experience Group
Interaction Design Lead; 11/05-Present

Interaction Design Lead

  • Led UX team for enterprise projects, including ATM Bulk Deposits, Spanish for Online Banking, Checking product sales page (the most trafficked sales page on BOA.com), HELOC Transactions, and more.
  • Led multi-disciplinary teams to design and documentation the user experience. Created transaction flows, wireframes, project presentations, in accordance with well defined BRDs & SPDs.
  • Managed team resources. Performed sizing, resourcing, and managerial tasks; Produced monthly progress summary presentations for Enterprise UX group to share with partners and executive teams.
  • Consistently delivered projects and assets on time.
  • Developed new design patterns, contributing to group best practices and customer delight.
  • Leveraged existing best practices to create a simple, intuitive tutorial interface.
  • Presented designs to senior management, Design Governance board, technology delivery leads, and offshore development teams.

User Experience Design

  • Researched competitors in the field, visiting rival banks and gathering competitive intelligence.
  • Created case studies to help define use cases and drive a better understanding of customer behavior.

Wells Fargo ATM Group
Lead Designer, ATM User Interface / Project Manager; 3/02-11/05

  • Lead designer for the Wells Fargo ATM user interface, known as the Wells Fargo webATM.
  • Led team responsible for ATM UI design, with focus on usability, flexibility, and brand & platform integrity.
  • Managed development of new consumer products including: Total redesign of ATM interface; Addition of new media types; ATM personalization; and various user interface improvements.
  • Served as art director and production artist for ongoing ATM product marketing campaigns.
  • Managed sophisticated projects involving dozens of contributors, large budgets, and thousands of deliverables.
  • Coded & administered MySQL-based application to document and manage ATM translation & screen database.
  • Trained staff in a variety of areas: web programming and administration, animation and design software & techniques, project management, database management.
  • Designed and managed a host of internal websites to collect, archive and disseminate critical business information
