Web Design

When I first started designing web sites back in early 2000, abbreviations such as SEO, xhtml, and CSS were not yet a glimmer in the Internet’s collective eye. Splash pages, Flash, and table-hacking were central to the conceptualization of any site - along with terms like B2B and P2P. And every week was measured in the number and opulence of launch parties that marked the tail end of The Bubble.  Ahh, those were heady days.

While the first websites I built are long gone (luckily), the experiences I have had over the years form the foundation for my expertise today. I’ve designed sites for a broad range of clients and purposes, ranging from bloggers, to merchants, lawyers, realtors, travel agencies, and of course consumer banking behemoths.

Here’s a sample of a few of the sites I’ve worked on over the years.

Nicole Rivera’s DCCC Campaign

Nicole Rivera was running for a seat on the San Francisco Democratic Party’s Central Committee. In a district as politically active as San Francisco, the race was hyper-competitive and Nicole, a young party activist and staffer for Speaker Pelosi, was looking for a website to help her spread her message and draw contributions.

I utilized WordPress as a CMS and focused on a bold color palette, large, simple controls, and an uncluttered appearance with a few bells and whistles to keep it interesting.

The site - part of a broad web strategy consulting I performed for Nicole’s campaign -  stood out in the race, and she received numerous compliments on her web presence, and collected a substantial portion of her donations online using the site, together with a strategic email campaign.

McGlashan & Sarrail

This long-successful, 6-lawyer firm was in desperate need of a website that reflected their professionalism and values. With growth in personnel and evolving areas of practice, this structurally basic website serves as a means to: 1) Explain their expertise; 2) Provide basic contact means & information; 3) Put a face to an attorney’s name for new or prospective clients; and 4) Extend the successful and professional image the firm has earned through their many years in business.

The site contains numerous custom images and stylized details in neutral, muted hues, reflecting the serious but sophisticated nature of the firm.

Prudential California Realty

Union City Prudential home page This rapidly expanding Realty in Union City needed a central home to help market their inventory of homes, provide resources for realtors & home buyers, and to compliment their excellent print marketing materials.

Design Purity created a large and dynamic website that offered instantly updated information about markets, new listings, contact information, and community resources. Within weeks of launch, the website was the pride of the office and proved that a small investment can reap a large dividend.

Wells Fargo Internal Websites

Total AccessTotalAccess, WebATM Archives, Training & Communications, ATM Banking & Distribution Strategies

Wells Fargo is a leader in ATM technology. I created a family of intranet sites to streamline critical business processes such as software release management, asset review, and other critical business functions for the ATM Banking business group.

Constantly updated and always simmering with new information, this website helped move the business away from the email-attachment ghetto into the wonderful world of shared files and hyperlinks to the latest versions of shared documents.

WebATM ArchivesA bright palette, rich brand-compliant imagery, and uncluttered layout serve to present the information in concise manner, with a strong visual punch.

Brooks Attorney

BrooksAttorney.com home pageWhen Attorney Jon G. Brooks decided to establish a private law practice, he knew that a website would be an important part of his PR arsenal, specifically as a means to communicate his expertise, available services, and contact information to potential clients.

A clean, modern appearance with a focus on the screen text formed the starting point for BrooksAttorney.com. Muted hues and subtle graphics reflect the serious nature of the legal profession, while robust content delivers complete information to potential clientele who visit Mr. Brooks’ website.

Additionally, we worked with Mr. Brooks to optimize each page for maximum search engine effectiveness: meta tags, page structure, key words, and continually freshened content all enhance BrooksAttorney.com’s profile on the top search engines.

K Travel

K Travel SD home pageA high-end travel agency with an exclusive clientelle, K Travel wanted their website to reflect the nature of their business.

After preparing several design drafts, agency principals settled on the the interface that they felt best reflected the mission, personality, and values of their company. The crisp design is keyed by use of exclusive scenic photographic art. The images, by Steve McClelland, form a key element that imbues this travel site with an appropriate sense of exotic travels, expansive views, and breathtaking memories.
